OUR INSPIRATION
Every year, thousands of individuals are diagnosed with cancer. Even those who are not stricken with the heart of the illness are touched in some way by the deadly disease. You probably know someone who is fighting this horrible battle and if you don't then chances are you will! "Cancer changes your life". You learn what's important, you learn to prioritize, and you learn not to waste your time. You tell people you love them and they tell you the same. My father, (Bill) William Cross (who passed on September 2, 2011 with lung cancer) even on his last day of life said often, 'Count it all Joy" Those words inspired me to become a better person and to do everything I could possible to make a difference. It is our goal for this event to bring additional awareness to this disease and to contribute to finding a cure.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS EVENT
" Fashion is not something that exists in clothing only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, has to do with ideas, the way we live and what is happening." In addition, The Sweet Magnolia Gypsies will be performing their tribal dance routine, the Dance Company Center will be performing a dance routine mixed with hip-hop, jazz, etc. Christian Wossilek, Salynn Mullen, Avery Jones, Daryll Blakely and Nathan & Kayla Bagwell will be singing. Just because you live in a small town doesn’t mean you have to put your dreams of stardom on the backburner. If anything, the lack of immediate opportunities should motivate you to grind even harder to let your light shine. Singer Daryll Blakely is a prime example of this. Growing up in the country town of Clayton, Alabama was not the best market for a blossoming career in entertainment. However, rather than letting that discourage him, Blakely continued to sing his heart out at church and weddings while earning three degrees from Troy University.
Crooning since the age of five, Blakely is influenced by popular artists such as Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Kirk Franklin, and Yolanda Adams just to name a few. After a car accident in 2008 that nearly took his life, Blakely turned from his music for a year in a half and just focused on his professional teaching career. “My doctors said that I would never walk again, but here I am,” said Blakely. “After all the disappointments I’ve had to endure on this journey, it has only made me stronger”, I am a survivor, said Blakely. “I’ve been to numerous auditions and was turned away, but my biggest disappointment was being turned away from Sunday's Best twice and American Idol once.” Blakely won one of Alabama’s biggest talent shows in 2009, “Wiregrass Got Talent.” “I will not stop until I earn my record deal,” said Blakely. Blakely, a fifth grade teacher, got his big break when a friend passed his information to Raheim Williams of the legendary Grand Master Flash & the Furious Five. “Raheim saw my performance on YouTube and he immediately wanted me to sing for him over the phone. Consequently, he liked my capabilities and wanted to work with me,” said Blakely. Now that Blakely has his foot in the door, several other well-known producers are looking forward to making magic with him in the studio. Blakely is beyond ready to make a name for himself.
“When people see me perform, they can expect to get my all; you’ll never catch me just standing or sitting there,” said Blakely. “I’'ve waited patiently for my time and my season has come.”

The Company Dance Center has been serving (and entertaining) the Andalusia, AL area since 2005. Under the direction of Brie Stacks, our staff has provided exceptional training in a variety of styles and ability levels. It is our intention to promote good health, artisitic growth and technical development in a fun and exciting atmosphere.
We offer classes for students as young as two years old. We believe that even the youngest "Tiny Tots" can benefit from the social and physical advantages of dance training. Young students are given the opportunity to have social interactions with other yang dancers, learn manners and basic classroom etiquette as well as a vast amount of technique and terminology. Parents of our "Tiny Tots' are always amazed by the amount of knowledge and skills these little ones absorb and audiences can't help but fall in love with our adorable little performers.
Our school-aged programs specialize in focusing on technique and artistic expression. We believe that each dancer should develop their own individual style that will compliment the technique that they work so hard to master. We aim to make classes a fun experience where learning never becomes "boring" but rather an exciting challenge!
We also offer special Competitive Dance programs for the more serious dancer who aims to take their technical training to another level. Our competition teams have traveled all over the southeast compeiting against fellow dancers. They are often given the opportunity to take master classes from world-renowned choreographers such as Janice Baringer. Our dances have won many exciting awards including Gold and Platinum adjudications, 1st place overalls, Champion of Categories, State Championships, Judges Choice and Choreography Awards.
We strive to offer a program that allows dancers of all ages and abilities to thrive and receive quality dance education. Studies have found that dance training helps students to prepare to meet the challenges of their everyday lives such as: creative problem solving, discipline, concentration, respect, and relationships with peers and classmates. We offer a curriculum that encourages physical awareness while improving body carriage, poise, and coordination. Dance helps promote self-confidence and leadership abilities while providing an excellent outlet for creativity and artistic development.
Our professional facilities include two separate classrooms with wall to wall mirrors, spring dance flooring (for safety and ease on the joints), ballet barres, wall to wall tumbling mats, competition grade balance beam and numerous training mats. We also offer a comfortable waiting area, restrooms, dressing rooms and a break area for students. We believe that a professional learning environment is essential to the development of an exceptional dancer.
